Hot Pink Bits – All Singing, All Dancing and …all WRONG! R18
Performed over 120 times Hot Pink Bits is a risque but tasteful, laugh a minute musical revue from NZ’s own globe trotting comedienne Penny Ashton, (Breakfast TV, Radio NZ National).
Resplendent in a hot pink corset and strung up in fishnets, Ashton will sing, dance and pontificate on pornography, prostitutes and Lockwood Smith in a burlesque romp through the knickers of the global sex trade.
Her Pinkness is back in Godzone after touring the world where she gathered sparkling reviews for her award-nominated show which trawls the ins and... outs of the international sex industry.
It’s crammed full of titillating facts and hour glass figures that will tell you all about the lives of the he’s, she’s, and he-she’s that make a living in the world’s oldest profession.
High Country Challenge 2010 , Terrace Downs - Begins Good Friday, April 2
The 2010 High Country Challenge is set to start on Good Friday, the 2nd of April. Building on from the success of the past years Challenges, we are looking forward to another exciting season.
The High Country Challenge is a stableford competition and is open to any golfer, however to be eligible to win prizes golfers must have an official NZ affiliated handicap. In each monthly event there is a stand alone competition where prizes can be won on the day. In addition to each monthly event an overall series prize is competed for. To qualify for the series prize competitors must play in at least three (3) monthly events plus the grand final. The best three (3) scores plus the final are accumulated to give an overall mens and ladies winner.
Furthermore, an order of merit will also be competed for. At each event at least 550 points are awarded amongst the top 10 placings in both the mens and ladies division. The players at the end of the series who have accumulated the most points will win the order of merit.
The entry fee again this year remains at $45.00pp per tournament which includes 18 holes of golf, light snacks after the round and the opportunity to win some fantastic prices. An overall prize will also be up for grabs in the grand final this December. We have on board some wonderful sponsors and are very appreciative of their generous and ongoing support.
Dates:
April 2 -- May 14 -- June 4 -- August 6 -- September 3 -- October 1 -- November 5 -- December 10 (Final)
For our first series round, times will be made available from 8am - 12pm and for the remainder of the year times shall be from 10am - 12pm teeing off holes number 1 and 10.
For all bookings please contact the pro shop on (03) 318 6943, or email golf@terracedowns.co.nz
In "Sweet As", an installation featuring intensely coloured giant pieces of popcorn.
Opening and Artist's Talk Saturday 1st May 2010 at 1.30pm.
Madeline Child gained inspiration while buying her children coloured popcorn. Madeline was"...fascinated by its fleshy gorgeousness, organic fecundity and forbidden fruitness:. The exhibition is designed to be a sensory experience offering multiple readings from childish delight to the more sickly consideration of calorie counting, globalisation, fool miles and corn wars - comfort food causing discomfort. Madeline CHild specialises in contemporary ceramic techniques.
Since receiving a ceramics certificate from Otago Polytechnic in Dunedin in 1978, Madeline has pursued the study of ceramic and glass in New York, Lisbon, and London where she received a Masters from the Royal College of Art and an Advanced Studies 3D degree from Central St Martins College of Art. She has since returned to where she began and has lectured at Otago Polytechnic School of Design since 1997. Madeline's extensive training and travel can be seen technically and conceptually in her work whether reflecting the distinctive colour and vibrancy of Mexican pottery or the playfulness in faux chocolate Easter bunnies. Her work evokes a sense of sentimentality that is, at times, countered with darker intonations.

“We will work with base pieces and change them from day to evening wear to show how to make the most from your wardrobe,” she said.
Accessories, an essential part of a woman’s wardrobe will be also used creatively.
TCD focuses on New Zealand made clothes for “women with curves” and are made for sizes 12-24.
The company has six stores around the country and was the first ever “plus size” label invited to show at New Zealand Fashion Week.

Join us for coffee and discussion at the Ashburton Art Gallery following The Last Station.
The Last Station - In 1910, acclaimed Russina novelist Leo Tolstoy, in the later stage of his life, works rather than a writer but as the leader of the Tolstoyan Movement, whose basic tenets are brotherly love and world peace through pacifism, and a denouncement of material wealth and physical love. His cheif follower is Vladimir Chertkov, who does whatever he requires to advance the cause. Chertkov hires a young man named Valentin Bulgakov to be Tolstoy's personal secretary in carrying out this work. Once ensconced in the life on the estate where much of the work is taking place, Bilgakov quickly learns that many there take from the movement only what he/she wants/believes. Also cheif amongst the movement's wants is the deeding of all Tolstoy's writings to the people so after his death it will become public domain. Tolstoy's wife, the Countess Sofya Andreevna Tolstoy, believes that her husband's writings are rightfully hers after he passes, as she wants and believes she deserves the monetary benefits derived from such. This places a strain between those in the movement, especially Chertov and Tolstoy's daughter Sasha, and the Countess. Bulgatov acts as the mediator between the parties, he who feels he needs to do what is truly in Tolstoy's heart regardless of what Tolstoy may say or do....starring Helen Mirren, Christopher Plummer, James McAvoy and Paul Giamatti.
