Congratulations to Mark O'Malley on being selected for the NZ Golf Foundation Squad for 2009. This puts him on the stepping stone towards the National Srixon Academy. He has been selected on form, both historical and current. Also selected from Aorangi South Canterbury area is Tim Leonard.
This year there are 5 teams for Celtic with
the A squad being named after 3 weekends of grading so congratulations to the

ASHBURTON CELTIC RUGBY CLUB NEWS - Monday 25th May, 2009
The Darryl Phillips Motor Company seniors traveled
to Rangiora to face Saracens. They had a 17/5 win. Jason Morrison had another
strong game at fullback and scored 2 tries. With the forward pack playing out
of their skins it gave the backs quality ball to work with. Player of the day
went to Lawrence McCormick who had a strong game on both attack and defence.
With a gusty start to the day teams from Ashburton Celtic, Timaru Celtic and Christchurch Marist Albion converged on the grounds at Keenan's Road, to compete in the annual New Zealand Marist Pompallier Trophy. Many thanks to Barney McCormick and his Tinwald Under 13's for making up the numbers after Greymouth Marist had to withdraw.
2009 is here and that means the season is not far around the corner. Pre-Season training has CHANGED AND IS NOW ON TUESDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHTS, 6:30PM AT CELTIC so all new players, seniors, senior b's and colts make an effort and get along as we all know that if you turn up now it makes it easier later on in the season. The seniors will be coached by Shane Enright and Dave McCrea, with Wayne Ford and Murray Walsh taking up the managers roles again.
