Time to register your dog for the year PDF Print E-mail
01 July 2019 - ADC - July is dog registration month across New Zealand and that means owners around the Ashburton District need to register and re-register their four-legged friends with the Council.

Owners must register or re-register their pets online or in the Council office by 31 July 2019. Re-registration forms were posted out in June.

All dogs aged three-months-old and over must be registered before August, as is required under the Dog Control Act 1996.

Dog registration fees help to pay for a range of animal control facilities and services that the Council provides, such as dog exercise areas, a 24/7 animal control response service and education programmes.

If the dog's registration details have changed, such as their address, owner or they have passed away, simply contact the Council by emailing  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it  or talk to the friendly Customer Service team in the Council office, 5 Baring Square West, Ashburton.

Late fees can apply if dogs are not registered by the end of July, and infringement notices may be issued from 1 September if they remain unregistered, so don't leave it too late to make your dog official.
