Rakaia water conservation notice remains in place PDF Print E-mail
10 August 2017 - ADC - Rakaia residents who use the town’s water supply are being asked to continue conserving water today, as the Level Five water conservation notice remains in place.

Ashburton District Council will install a new water pump for the system later today, after the submersible pump broke down yesterday afternoon. The break down meant water could not be pumped into the system to service the town, and Council quickly issued a Level Five water conservation notice to help reduce the amount of water used.

Under the restriction, all non-essential water use, including hosing is banned and Council urges residents to use the water sparingly.

“We greatly appreciate the community’s cooperation during this time, and would like to thank them for their efforts to conserve water. We are working as quickly as possible to get the system operating properly again and will notify when water use can return to normal,” Council Assets Manager Andrew Guthrie says.

For updates on the water restriction, check the Council’s website ashburtondc.govt.nz or Facebook page.

The water restriction will remain in place until further advised.
