Mid-South Canterbury U15 girls basketball PDF Print E-mail
12 July 2017 - The Combined Mid-South Canterbury Under 15 girls’ basketball team are participating in the New Zealand Nationals from the 19 till 22nd July in Dunedin.
This team is made up of 3 players from South Canterbury Basketball and 7 players from Basketball Mid Canterbury.

The team has been together since the beginning of March and have attend an Otago/Southland tournament as warm up, where they come away with 3 wins and 1 loss, before taking on Waitaha Canterbury teams at a Qualifying tournament.  They successfully beat Waitaha Canterbury A to gain a spot at Nationals in May, a great intense game played at EA Network centre.  Since then training has increased with the team getting together twice a week to train, traveling as far as Waimate for this to happen as it is a combined team.
The team is 1 of 18 teams from throughout New Zealand attending National’s with only five of these coming from the South Island and the rest from the North Island.
Coached by Wayne Rodgers from BBMC he says “Nationals are never easy but it is all about the team that plays as a team on the day and wants to win the most.  As a good team will always beat a team of individuals”
Wayne also adds “A special thanks has to go to team manager Pauline Anderson and the parents who have supported the girls in the preparation on the journey to nationals”
BBMC vice president Michael Clark wishes the team all the best on behalf of Basketball Mid Canterbury and knows the team will represent our region proudly.
