11 August 2017 - ADC - Ashburton District Council has now lifted the Level Five water conservation notice for the Rakaia water scheme, after successfully replacing the broken submersible pump for the supply.

The water scheme is now working correctly and residents are safe to use water for both essential and non-essential purposes.

“The Rakaia community has been very cooperative during the conservation notice and we’d like to thank them for their assistance in conserving water. The new submersible pump is now connected and working correctly, and we are pleased to report the notice is no longer required,” Council Assets Manager Andrew Guthrie says.

Rakaia residents were put onto a Level Five water conservation notice on Wednesday afternoon after the submersible pump for the scheme broke down. The break down meant water could not be pumped into the system to service the town and Council quickly issued the notice while getting to work to replace the broken equipment.
