2 July 2019 - ADC - At it’s meeting on Thursday 27 June 2019, the Ashburton District Council resolved to relocate the East Street fountain, also known as the Three Rivers flowform water sculpture, to the Ashburton Domain.

This decision was based on the vision of the CBD Revitalisation project to have a pedestrian and cycle-friendly town centre, and to have a modern and consistent look and feel to the whole project.
Council is aware however of the amount of commentary relating to that decision, and want to assure the community that there will be an opportunity coming up in the near future for feedback and comment.

In the coming weeks, Ashburton District Council will provide an update on the CBD Revitalisation plans. At the next Council meeting on 25 July, the Council plans to consider and adopt the draft Ashburton Domain Development Plan for public consultation.
This draft Development Plan will include options for setting the Three Rivers flowform water sculpture in the Domain, and feedback on these options will be welcomed.

These conversations with the community are being held well in advance of any works commencing, and will have the opportunity to influence Council’s final decisions on the matter.

The eastern side of East Street is scheduled to start in 2021.
