Preparations are in full swing for two Armistice Day commemorative concerts in Ashburton in November.
Named `For The Fallen', the November 10 and 11 concerts will be performed at Ashburton Trust Event Centre and will feature big bands, choirs and soloists.
Concert co-ordinator and MSA Men's Choir musical director Angie Cresswell said For The Fallen would acknowledge and remember those who fought and died for their country.
She said the choir was looking forward to presenting the remembrance concert, which would mark 100 years since the Armistice and would include singalongs.
Mrs Cresswell met recently with Event Centre technician James Wood and Garden City Big Band president Richard McCracken to discuss sound, lighting and stage requirements.
Mr McCracken said his band was excited to be involved and would perform at the venue for the first time.
The band typically played weddings and conferences and had played in the Air Force Museum at Wigram in the past.
While still working on the band's final repertoire, he said relevant and well-known tunes like Chattanooga Choo Choo, Maori Battalion, In The Mood and American Patrol were likely to be played.
He said he would return to Ashburton soon for more concert prepping work.
