19 October 2017 - By Mick Jensen - It's not quite completed, but the impressive refit of the new Ashburton Menz Shed building has been showcased to supporters.
The shed, tucked away in a council yard off William Street, was formerly the Allens Road building of Grieves Transport and was gifted to the Menz Shed by Greg Donaldson Contracting.

19 October 2017 - Many hands made light work at a community planting day along the Ashburton River trail on Sunday.
Around 100 people of all ages came armed with sturdy footwear, gloves and shovels and were happy to lend a hand with planting 500 natives.

19 October 2017 - Committee members from the swimming pools on Ashburton District Council reserves have been assured the council will do everything it can to ensure they remain open.
Representatives from pool committees at Ruapuna, Mt Somers, Mayfield and Rakaia met with councillors and staff on Tuesday to learn the effects of new recommendations developed by the council's finance and business support committee last week.

19 October 2017 - ADC - People planning to head to the EA Networks Centre on Saturday 28 October are being encouraged to visit the centre in the morning or early afternoon, as the facility will close at 2.00pm for a planned power shutdown.

17 October 2017 - NZTA -  This Labour Weekend the NZ Transport Agency encourages everyone heading off for a break to check the Labour Weekend Hotspots map. The Hotspots maps collate information from previous Labour Weekend journeys on the times where traffic is heaviest. The Transport Agency advises people to consider avoiding travel during the times of heaviest congestion or at least be forewarned on what to expect.
