9 October 2018 - ADC - The Ashburton Youth Council are thanking the community for their outstanding support of the Bite Nite 2.0 community event, which saw close to $700.00 raised on 26 September.

8 October 2018 - Tinwald Cycling Club - Jason Stainger produced a strong solo effort to take victory in Tinwald Cycling Clubs, Ashburton Contracting Ltd, Small Business Accounting, 32km handicap event around the Wakanui Beach block on Sunday.
With the race coming together in the concluding stages, Stainger dug deep to keep the chasing groups at bay.

7 October 2018 - The first anniversary of two initiatives that connect newcomers, migrants and locals of all ages and backgrounds through shared skills and experience has been celebrated in Ashburton.

The Mid Canterbury TimeBank and Learning Exchange were set up 12 months ago by Kate White after a public meeting showed strong community support for the initiatives.

A powhiri to formally "gift" departing Wakanui School principal Hilary Boyce to her new school, Ashburton Borough School, was held last week.  All students from both schools, as well as board of trustees and other invited guests, lined up at Borough to take part in the formalised Maori ceremony.
