Least disruptive time selected for EA Networks Centre pool closures in January

28 November 2018 - ADC -Traditionally low visitation numbers and the availability of alternate venues were determining factors in the Ashburton District Council’s decision to temporarily close the EA Networks Centre (EANC) pools in January for routine maintenance.

22 November 2018 - By Mick Jensen - Well known local family, the Murneys, are behind a new building project going up in central Ashburton that will help with the rejuvenation of the CBD.
Foundation work has begun for a new four-storey building on the high profile site on the corner of East and Burnett streets.

Rock `n roll club notches up 30 years PDF Print E-mail

22 November 2018 - By Mick Jensen - Ashburton Rock `n Roll Club is celebrating its 30th year and a special birthday dance is lined up at the Tinwald Memorial Hall on December 1.
Rock n' roll enthusiasts, past and present, are invited to take to the dance floor for the rocking event.
The dance party will feature live music from Th' Art of Cheese, spot prizes and a birthday cake. There will be bring your own drinks and nibbles and a shared plate and also a display of 1950s-era vehicles in the car park.

Building notices sent again PDF Print E-mail

22 November 2018 - Ashburton District Council will re-send earthquake-prone placards to around 100 building owners, who have failed to comply or reply to council.
Building owners will have two weeks to display notices, or else face a fine.
Original placard notices were sent out to 130 building owners in September, but there have been just 30 responses.
