Permanent boil water notice issued for Montalto PDF Print E-mail

21 August 2018 - ADC - The Ashburton District Council has implemented a permanent boil water notice for the Montalto supply, and residents who use this scheme are being advised to boil their water used for drinking, food preparation and personal hygiene for at least one minute before consuming.

Central Otago player scoops $22 million Powerball prize

A lucky Powerball player from Central Otago will be living the dream after winning $22.3 million with Powerball First Division in tonight's live Lotto draw. 

The winning ticket was sold on MyLotto to a player from Central Otago. The total prize is made up of $22 million from Powerball First Division and $333,333 from Lotto First Division.

Innovation class set for Year 9 pupils

Next year's intake of Year 9 pupils at Ashburton College are being asked if they want to be part of a new Innovation Class pilot programme which aims to "future proof'' learning and better prepare students for life after school.

The pilot programme is based on an integrated learning model and will be staffed by teachers who volunteer and students who opt in.

Students will still have the option of following the traditional, well-defined single-subject approach.

Ashburton College principal Ross Preece said the pilot programme was an exiting step forward for Ashburton College in better equipping students for the future.

Wastebusters to close after 24 years

It's been the facilitator, educator and champion of recycling in the district over the last 24 years, but economic conditions have forced Wastebusters to make the decision to close its doors for good.

The green waste operation and shop at the McNally Street site will close on September 28 and the entire operation will shut down at the end of October.

Pretty in Pink Ball makes $21,000 for Cancer Society

Last month's Pretty in Pink Ball in Ashburton raised an impressive $21,000 for Mid Canterbury Cancer Society. Organised by four friends - Di Thomas, Carolyn Bond-Hood, Gabrielle Thompson and Moana Taylor - the glitzy affair was held under canvas at Trotts Garden.

9 August 2018 - ADC - Baring Square East may soon be alight with food and festivities later this year, after the Ashburton District Council today approved $13,000 of funding to go towards the district’s second Bite Nite event.
