The 24-year-old has made the shortlist in the Instructor of the Year category, sponsored by New Zealand Snowsports Instructors Alliance (NZSIA).

Community efforts are afoot to resurrect chess in central Ashburton.
The large scale chess board on East Street, next door to the former information centre, has faded from view and memory in recent years, but a group of enthusiasts is aiming to spruce it up to encourage more people to embrace the game.

Septmber 26 - By Mick Jensen - He's just retained the East Coast Championships in Australia and now Scottish heavy athletics competitor Craig Manson is focused on the Hororata Highland Games, an event he goes into as one of the hot favourites. The Ashburton painter improved on all of his 2017 distances in the six throwing events in Australia and matched or improved weights in the three lifting events.

18 September 2018 - ADC - Building on the series of very successful, informative and engaging cultural awareness workshops held during 2017, Volunteering Mid & South Canterbury and the Mid Canterbury Newcomers Network have partnered with Welcoming Communities to offer a series of cultural awareness workshops to help further educate, upskill and inform volunteers and their managers when working with cultures other than their own. The workshops this year will integrate additional cultures, expand on current understanding and include practical tips.
