SENSEI KEVIN McMAHON - Black Belt Third Dan.

Sankukai Karate originates from a small Island in Japan called Okinawa. The style derives from Gojaru and Shukaki and concentrates on adapting traditional Karate for practical use in the street. Its main emphasis is on avoiding an attack and retaliating very quickly. Sankukai Karate is based on natural karate001.jpgreactions, many of the moves are in the form of an evasion technique, i.e. blocking whilst escaping and counter attacking with the most appropriate technique. This avoids direct conflict with what could be a heavier and more powerful opponent. It is therefore ideally suited for both male and female ,of all age groups ,size including body weight simply does not matter.

Consequently to be competent in the practice of this martial art students must be prepared to enhance their fitness and focus. In return the mastering of this martial art will bring students satisfaction, and a code for how to live their life with respect and modesty.

Kevin McMahon has over 30 years experience in the Martial Arts and has been training both children and adults for 10 years. He originally trained as a body guard in the military, prior to joining the Police Force in the UK, he now lives here in New Zealand.

He started the Sankukai Dojo at the Allenton School Hall, Allenton, Ashburton in January 2008. There are now two classes running juniors and seniors. Children under 10 years train in the Junior class some train along side their parents.
