2011 TBC  :: 2009 Results

Registration  6.00-7.00am Victoria Square
Race start  7.30 am Cathedral Square outside the BNZ
Run Stage 17km, or 7km & 10km for two runner teams.Two runner teams change at the bottom of Rapaki track. The route takes runners down Colombo St and over Rapaki track to Lyttelton. Fastest time around 1 hr
Cycle Stage 30km Lyttelton/Evans Pass/Sumner/New Brighton/Kerrs Reach. Fastest time around 35 min
Kayak Stage 6km  from Kerrs Reach upstream to the Town Hall then 50 meter run to the finish. Fastest time around 35 min

RUNNING SECTION DESCRIPTION
Competitors start at 0730 hours from Cathedral Square and run into Colombo Street, running south on the left hand side of Colombo Street, crossing or passing on the left Hereford Street & Cashel Mall, Lichfield Street, Tuam Street, St Asaph Street, Welles Street, Dundas Street, Moorhouse Avenue, Carlyle Street, Sandyford / Byron Streets, Lawson Street, Wordsworth Street, Waverley Street, Brougham Street, Hutcheson Street, Hastings Street, Walton Street, Milton & Huxley Streets, King Street, Southampton Street, Roxburgh Street, Southey Street, and Strickland Street. Competitors turn left into Tennyson Street and run on the left hand footpath side of Tennyson Street crossing on the left Percival Street and Longfellow Street Competitors continue on Tennyson Street crossing to the right hand side of Tennyson Street under the control of manual traffic controllers (Stop / Go) & run on the right hand footpath. Then crossing on the right Norwood Street. Competitors continue along Tennyson Street on the right hand footpath and vear right into Burnbrae Street crossing or passing on the right Eastern Terrace, Palatine Terrace / Riverlaw Terrace. Competitors turn right into St Martins Road continuing on the footpath, crossing to the left hand footpath in St Martins Road under the control of manual traffic controllers (Stop / Go). Competitors turn left into Centaurus Road and run east on the left hand footpath in Centaurus Road crossing to the right hand footpath in Centaurus Road under the control of manual traffic controllers (Stop / Go) then crossing or passing on the right Ramahana Road & Albert Terrace, Lascelles Street, Hillsborough Terrace and Vernon Terrace. Competitors continue down Centaurus Road on the right hand footpath and turn onto Rapaki Road. At the top of Rapaki Road competitors leave the formed road and follow Rapaki Track to the Summit Road. Competitors cross the Summit Road and turn left onto the Crater Rim Walkway and continue to the Bridle Path track. Competitors must stay on the track along the top of the Crater Rim and not take shortcuts. Competitors turn right on to the Bridle Path Track following down into Lyttelton, continuing on Bridle Path Road. Competitors turn left into Ticehurst Terrace then along Ticehurst Terrace then right into Hawkhurst Road then left into Coleridge Street for the transition from run to cycle.


 CYCLING SECTION DESCRIPTION
Transition from run to cycle is at Coleridge Street. Competitors cycle along Coleridge Street crossing Dublin Street then continue on Winchester Street crossing Canterbury Street and turn right into Oxford Street then sharp left into Sumner Road. Competitors cycle along Sumner Road up to the Summit Road at Evans Pass. Competitors cycle down Evans Pass Road to Wakefield Avenue. This is steep and fast – take extreme caution. Competitors cycle through Sumner then vear left into Marriner Street which turns into Main Road. Competitors travel on Main Road, crossing Ferrymead Bridge into Ferry Road. Follow Ferry Road to Tunnel Road / Dyers Road roundabout. Turn right into Dyers Road and follow through Dyers Road /Linwood Avenue intersection. Continue on Dyers Road through the Breezes Road/Bridge Street roundabout into Bexley Road then continue through Bexley Road /Pages Road on Bexley Road. Continue on Bexley Road through Bexley Road /Wainoni Road to Burwood Expressway. Continue on Burwood Expressway and turn left at Anzac Drive / New Brighton roundabout. At Anzac Drive / New Brighton Roundabout turn left into New Brighton Road. Continue on New Brighton Road through Avondale Road/Basset Street roundabout. Competitors then turn left from New Brighton Road into Locksley Avenue then continue along and turn  left into Gayhurst Road. Continue on Gayhurst Road to Gloucester Street/Avonside Drive. Turn left onto Avonside Drive. Follow on Avonside Drive to Wainoni Road intersection. Turn left and continue on Wainoni Road around Porritt Park to Avonside Drive. Turn left onto Avonside Drive and follow around. Turn left onto cycleway / pathway entrance to Porritt Park. Dismount and cross the bridge to the cycle / kayak transition.


 KAYAKING SECTION DESCRIPTION
Competitors kayak from Kerrs Reach to the finish at Victoria Square where competitors exit their kayak and run to the finish.
